In this workshop, we will dive deeply into the fundamental practices of somatic dance, focusing on the union of breath and body, the act of compassionate noticing, and the therapeutic efficacy of attentional movement.
In this setting, we can spend a bit more time discussing the “why” behind the work, which often facilitates deeper effects. We will explore: the weight and lightness of the body, body’s connection to ground/earth/gravity, body parts in detail, prompts to get the mind out of the way, energetics, the importance of slow, and the building of safe community to empower us in the wider world.
Kundalini Yoga & Somatic Movement to increase your capacity for peace & joy
Dates: 4 consecutive Tuesdays, starting November 3rd
Time: 5:30 to 6:30 PM
Location: ABC’s of Building Better Lives (5934 Old French Road)
Cost: $40 (for all four classes)
No experience necessary.
FOCUS: breathwork and small tools that you can use on a daily basis to clear away anxiety and lethargy. The movements of kundalini yoga are natural and easeful and repetitive in a way that brings balance and clarity to your mind. We will also blend in a variety of other approaches, including: biomechanics for healthy aging, mudra meditations, partner supported movement, meridian based medicine, guided visualizations, and movement prompts for brain health.
